Summer can be a time where our children get stuck to their technology and games. Playing outside is not as appealing to them as it was for us as kids. Getting children up and active is important for their health and ours!
Everyone can benefit from regular exercise. Active kids will have:
- stronger muscles and bones
- leaner bodies
- less risk of becoming overweight
- a lower chance of getting type 2 diabetes
- lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels
- a better outlook on life
Try incorporating whatever your child is interested in, in the activities. If your child like building, try activities like sand castle building, fort building, playing with blocks or legos outside. If your child is into art and crafts, try sidewalk chalk murals, chalk paint, and water painting. There are so many new and fun ways to add your children's interests into their everyday activities to get them active and outdoors.
Here are some tips for raising fit kids:
- Help your kids do in a variety of age-appropriate activities.
- Set a regular schedule for physical activity.
- Make being active a part of daily life, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Embrace a healthier lifestyle yourself, so you'll be a positive role model for your family.
- Be active together as a family.
- Keep it fun, so your kids will come back for more.
